Nominate a Hero
Toronto does not honour its heroes like it should. The Bloor-Viaduct, one of the cities great pieces of infrastructure, has 10 alcoves ideal for a statue. We should commission a set of beautiful statues of the heroes that built the city to stand on the bridge.
Who should be there?

The Bloor Street Viaduct is an essential part of Toronto's fabric. Designed by R. C. Harris, Toronto's greatest builders, and Edmund Burke, an iconic architect. It imagined a future for the city that was almost incomprehensible at the time of its commission.
Completed in 1918 when Toronto's population was less than 500,000 it crossed the largest river in the city to connect a fast-growing downtown with an area that at the time was mostly farmers fields. This concept on its own was farfetched, yet room was set aside below the primary bridge for a subway to be added. A second build that wouldn’t be completed for more than 50 years.
Toronto does a very poor job of recognizing its own history of builders, inventors, scientists, entrepreneurs, innovators, risk takers, and creative genius. Yet there are so many of them. We could do something about this by taking this landmark in Toronto's history and ornamenting it with the heroes who made the city what it is today.
